Step 2: Highlight the area or whole sheet and copy it. To do so, press ‘CTRL + C’ keys on keyboard
Step 3: Now, click ‘Paste Special’ and choose ‘Paste as Values’ icon. Once done, you will see that the cell that previously had a formula, now only show the values/data as result
Method 2: Across many sheets at the same time in Excel
If you want delete broken formula in multiple sheets at the same time, then you can follow the steps below.
Step 1: At fist, click on ‘First Sheet’ in your Excel workbook and hold ‘SHIFT’ keys on keyboard and click on ‘Last Sheet’. You will notice that colour of sheet names turns whiter and name of file includes that work Group.
Step 2: Now, follow the same steps as you followed in above method like the following steps:
- highlight the area (or the whole sheet) in the sheet you are (don’t worry about the other sheets)
- Copy it (CTRL + C or whatever way you use to Copy cells)
- Click on Paste Special
- Choose the paste as Values icon.
Step 3: It will do the exact same thing on all other sheets because all sheets are grouped. For example, it will copy sheet 1 and paste the value onto sheet 1 and do the same on all other sheets. Once done, you will notice in each sheets that there is only numbers/data in sheets and no formula at all.
Note: To ungroup the sheets, right-click on any of the sheets and select ‘UnGroup sheets’.
Method 3: Find and remove formulas in Excel using keyboard shortcuts
This method helps you to find the cell containing the formulas and then provide instructions to delete the formulas.
Step 1: Press ‘CTRL + G’ keys on keyboard to open ‘Go To’ dialog box and select ‘Special’ option
Step 2: Now, select ‘Formulas’ from the list and hit ‘Ok’ button. All cells containing formulas will be selected. You can highlight the cell with colour.
Step 3: Now, repeat the same steps as you followed in ‘Method 1’ to delete broken formulas in highlighted cells. This will remove formulas from all cells you highlighted.
