First of all we would like to mention that you can use the effect to focus on: certain part of a map, certain steps in the process, certain person in a group photo etc.

Now follow the below mention steps one by one:

Step 1: Decide the part you want to focus on

In the very first step after sticking a picture on your slide is to decide the area you want to focus on. Then remove the shape fill & color the outline as white for effortless recognition.

Navigate to custom animation and let the white circle have an entrance animation called “Wheel” Now select the number of spokes as 1. It will form the first part of the animation we need to create.

Step 2: Make a copy of the part you want to focus

The main purpose of this step is to make copy of flower and place it right on top of the flower picture in background. For this you need to make a copy of photo. By using the ‘crop’ tool just crop the photo till the four sides touch the edge of white circle.

If you don’t want the cropped image to be a square, you want a circle. To do so you have to make a copy of the white circle, remove animation and then fill it with the picture of the flower.

So copy the cropped photo, it will put the piece in the clipboard memory. Navigate to the copied white circle and then right-click to go to ‘Format Shape’ dialog box. Then go to Fill>Picture or text fill >clipboard. It will fill the shape with the cropped photo. Remove Outline.

Now increase the transparency of circular flower image to position it in right place on top of the background picture. Now get the transparency back to 0%.

We have a picture in the background, a hollow white circle with ‘wheel’ animation and a circle with photo of flower placed on the top of the flower picture in the background.

Step 3: Apply ‘Grow/Shrink’ animation

Tap on the circle with flower image. Then first apply entrance effect called ‘Appear’ let the start be ‘after previous’. Tap on flower image once again and then add ‘Grow/Shrink’ animation just to make it grow to 150%.It will create the zoom effect in PowerPoint you saw at the start of this article.

If you find the effect not interesting then you can use the base technique to improve.
