In previous article, we have already discussed on ‘Qualcomm Snapdragon 720g Vs 855 Comparison’ and tried to know which processor is better in terms of CPU, GPU, performance, AI engine, camera support, RAM & storage and connectivity options. You can read complete article using above link.
In this post, we are going to discuss on ‘Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G Vs MediaTek Helio P95 Comparison’ and trying to know which one is better SoC (System-on-Chip). If you are not aware, Qualcomm Snapdragon 720g in Qualcomm 700-series was launched in January 2020 by Qualcomm Company, which is build on 8nm Process Technology. It includes the use of 2x Cortex-A76 cores as its main performance CPUs as a very large jump in the 700-series of Qualcomm Snapdragon brand.
On other hand, MediaTek Helio P95 chipset has MediaTek HyperEngine Gaming Technology provides you fast and smooth action in your favorite games through whole-device improvements. MediaTek Helio P95 has 10% improved CPU & GPU compared to its previous version. Let’s start the discussion on ‘MediaTek Helio P95 Vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G Comparison’ in details.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G Vs MediaTek Helio P95 SoC Comparison
On the basis of CPU: Both SD720g and Helio P95 are octa-core processor. Qualcomm Snapdragon 720g chipset has 2x 2.3 GHz – Kryo 465 Gold (Cortex-A76) and 6x 1.8 GHz – Kryo 465 Silver (Cortex-A55), while MediaTek Helio P95 processor has 2x 2.3 GHz – Kryo 465 Gold (Cortex-A76) and 6x 1.8 GHz – Kryo 465 Silver (Cortex-A55). In terms of CPU, Snapdragon 720g is winner because it has 2x Cortex-A76 high-performance cores compared Helio P95.
On the basis of GPU: Snapdragon 720g SoC has Adreno 618 GPU and MediaTek Helio P95 SoC has PowerVR GM9446 GPU. MediaTek helio P95 is build on 12nm Process Technology while Snapdragon 720g is 8nm LPP chipset. In terms of GPU, Snapdragon 720g is better SoC compared to MediaTek helio P95.
On the basis of AI Engine: Focuses on performance & improvements, Qualcomm released Snapdragon 720g processor with 5th generation Qualcomm AI Engine includes Qualcomm Kryo 465 CPU, Adreno 618 GPU, Hexagon Tensor, Accelerator, sensing hub, Hexagon Scalar Accelerator and Hexagon 692 processor, which offers 20% improved in AI performance for things like AI-based camera functionality or voice translation features.
On other hand, MediaTek Helio P95 SoC has ‘APU 2.0’ Neural Processor AI engine with 4K video capture at frame rate 30fps, with this APU 2.0 AI engine, the processor achieves 10% increase in benchmark performance compared to its previous version.
RAM & Storage: Snapdragon 720g and MediaTek helio P95 SoC powered devices both can support up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM while the mobile phones powered by MediaTek Helio P95 processor has eMMC 5.1 and UFS 2.1 storage type, and Snapdragon 720g has UFS 2.1 storage type.
Camera support: Qualcomm Snapdragon 720g processor uses Qualcomm Spectra 340L Image Signal Processor (ISP) that can support up to 64MP with MFNR or up to 192MP single camera, 16MP with MFNR dual camera, while MediaTek helio P95 processor has 1x 64MP single camera and 2x 24MP dual camera with 4k video capture frame rate of 30fps.
Connectivity options: Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G and MediaTek helio P95 both offers only LTE (4G) network connectivity support. Helio P95 has Cat-12 LTE (4G) modem. Snapdragon 720g has Qualcomm Snapdragon X15 LTE (4G) modem with LTE Cat 15 up to 800 Mbps for DL, 3×20 MHz carrier aggregation and LTE Cat 13 up to 150 Mbps for UL, 2×20 MHz carrier aggregation.
So in terms of 5G modem, no one is winner because both chipsets have only 4G LTE modem with 4G supports instead of 5G connectivity options as on Snapdragon 480 and 855 processor. On other hand, SD720g SoC supports WIFI 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS while MediaTek Helio P95 processor has Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi 5, NFS and GPS.
