Xiaomi Mi 9 SE under name of “grus” and Mi 8 SE with “Sirius”: kernel source code
According to report, Xiaomi (Chinese Smartphone manufacturer) has launched Kernel Source Code based on Android 9 Pie for their device including Mi 9 SE and Mi 8 SE. It allows the users/developers to create custom ROMs, recoveries and other MODs. So, if you want to start building TWRP or port an AOSP-based ROM, then it is good news for you that Xiaomi has released Kernel Source code for Linux Kernel binaries in both phones. You can get Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Android Pie kernel source code under the name of “grus” while Mi 8 SE’s under “sirius”. Let’ take a look.
Xiaomi released Android Pie based kernel Source code for Mi 9 SE and Mi 8 SE
Under GPL (General Public License), it is compulsory for the companies to release kernel source code for every change they make to Android Linux’s kernel. For those who are not aware, Xiaomi was released Mi 8 SE powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC (System-On-Chip). The phone is now received Android Pie update. On other hand, Mi 9 SE was unveiled last month with Android 9.0 Pie and Snapdragon 712 powered processor. No doubt, there indeed few improvements in Mi 9 SE phone as compare to its predecessor Mi 8 SE including better chipset, quick charge 4+ support.
