Method 2: Manual steps to fix Microsoft SQL Server error 18456
Step 1: Use Remote Desktop: To resolve this issue, you need to login to the server or at least be able to make Windows Authentication Connection on MS SQL using MS SQL Server Management Studio. You can easily connect to the server with Remote Desktop Connection. To do so, click on ‘Start’ button, type ‘Remote Desktop’, now fill the required field like IP of your server or resolvable hostname, username, password and then hit ‘Connect’.
Step 2: Launch Microsoft SQL Server Management Tool: Once you logged into the server, now open ‘Microsoft SQL Server Management Tool’ – offers you to configure, manage and administer MS SQL. To do so, right-click the user and select ‘Properties’, click on ‘User Mapping’ page and select ‘Database’, select the desired/required memberships from database role memberships and then hit ‘Ok’.
