Step 8: Now you have two options again, “Create a Backup now” & “Skip it and continue the factory reset without backup up any of your current files.

Step 9: Click the restart button to reboot your computer and start process of factory reset.

Your Window 7 will turn-off and start again. After this a new message “System Recovery Option” will pop-up asking you to select a keyboard input method.

Step 10: Click Next.

System Restore Type will have three options

  • Restore operation system to factory default.
  • Restore operation system and Retain user data (You will still have the option to restore your data)
  • Exit

Step 11: Select the very first option “Restore Operation System to Factory Default”.

Step 12: Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Method 2:

There is another unorthodox method which you can use to return your Windows 7 computer to factory default. Follow these steps to do so:

Step 1: Download a Windows 7 iso file from Microsoft website.

Step 2: Use an “iso” file extractor like WinRAR to extract the entire installation file to a new folder on home screen.

Step 3: Find Setup.exe file and open it.

Step 4: A Windows Installation menu will appear.

Step 5: On the next screen, choose your most viable option.

Step 6: Check “I accept the license terms” and select Next.

Step 7: In next screen, select Custom (advanced) option.

Step 8: Select your primary disk and click next.

Step 9: Wait for the process to complete.

Step 10: It will restart several times and after installation of feature and updates the process will end.

Follow the setup screen instruction and accept if prompted any.
