As we have earlier discussed that WMC features are laptop oriented which clearly means that one can access WMC only on Windows that run on battery that means Windows does check whether the battery is connected or not and base on that check it does enable/disable the feature. So in order to enable the feature all we need to do is force Windows to skip the battery check and which is possible by modifying the registry keys.

  1. Steps to enable Windows Mobility Center by using CMD/PowerShell:

Step 1: Right-click on Start Button >tap on Windows PowerShell (Admin). Note: You can also use Command Prompt if you are using the older version of Windows.

Step 2: When prompted by UAC, tap on Yes>After that type the below mention command one by one and press Enter Key after each command to execute it.

reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MobilePC\AdaptableSettings /v SkipBatteryCheck /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MobilePC\MobilityCenter /v RunOnDesktop /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

You will get message operation completed successfully after each command.

Step 3: In order to run WMC, press Win + R keys to open Run Window>then type mblctr.exe in it & press Enter key

Congratulations, you have successfully enabled the feature. For quick access you can pin it in the Taskbar.

Note: If you want to disable the WMC feature due to any reason then you need to run the below mention commands in Windows PowerShell & Command Prompt.

reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MobilePC\AdaptableSettings /v SkipBatteryCheck /f

reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MobilePC\MobilityCenter /v RunOnDesktop /f

Once again you will get the operation completed successfully message. And if you try to open it, you will get the same error message that you were getting earlier.

  1. Enable WMC (mblctr.exe) via Registry File

Here in this method we will enable the Windows Mobility Center by using Registry File. Though the process doesn’t have risk at all but if you want then you can take a backup registry.

Step 1: You need to have two registry files, for disabling as well as enabling WMC on Windows

Step 2: Right-click on “Enable Windows Mobility Center” file >click on Merge

Step 3: A security warning Window will appear, tap on Run

Step 4: You will be prompted with UAC Window, tap on Yes

Step 5: The keys and value contained in the registry file will get merged with the Windows Registry

Step 6: Finally press Win + R keys, type in mblctr.exe and press Enter key to open WMC

Note: If you desire to disable Mobility Windows Center then you need to run the Disable Windows Mobility Center file.

And after that follow the same process to run it (Merge>Run>Yes>Yes)
